What
is Kennebec River Outfitters Outdoor Travel Services?
We
at Kennebec River Outfitters (KRO) sincerely believe that all sportsmen
and women regardless of skill level, schedule (vacation availability),
preferences and income deserve to (and can afford to) experience
at least some of the endless Blue-Ribbon Angling opportunities found
throughout the United States and the world.
As
such, we have worked with anl established Outdoor "Trip Broker"
and a handfull of well-known "Destination Shops" (located
on some of the most famous US waters!) throughout the country to
bring you a broad range of "canned" (Lodging, Meals and
Guiding) trips designed to fit a wide range of skills, schedules,
preferences and budgets!
All
of the trips in our catalog have been hand-picked by our staff and
associates based on first hand experiences (we have been there!)
with consideration given to variety, convenience and affordability.
As a result, we can offer the angler a broad range of "Dream"
trips costing between $1,250 and $5,500 per person, per week.
In
regared to our 4 "canned western trips, our objective is to
provide you with an "affordable" way to enjoy premium
fisheries. As such, we have looked for reasonable lodging with top
quality guides. In addition, as opposed to utilizing lodging/meal
options, we encourage anglers to eat in town at their own convenience
(not the lodges!).

If you
are interested in a particular destination that you do not see in
our list, please let us know. Chances are we have been there (and
can at a minimum give you the inside scoop!), already have established
contacts in the area (so there will be no surprises!), and as always,
will be more than glad to do the legwork for you to make it happen!
Lastly,
we at KRO are always willing (and I dare say pretty good at!) to
design custom itineraries that encompass multiple destinations in
a single trip. This is especially attractive to the adventurous
angler heading out west for a week and wishing to "sample"
a number of waters! Many of the best western waters are within a
few short hours ride of each other!
Why use Kennebec River Outfitters Outdoor Travel Services?
First
and foremost is that it costs you absolutely nothing to utilize
our services. All of our fees are paid by the destination shop in
the form of a "commission" or by the trip brokers in the
form of a "finders fee" (the trip broker is in turn paid
a commission by the outfitter or lodge). As a result, you pay the
same price as anyone else would!
Additionally,
having no formal affiliation with or financial investment in any
of the respective shops, outfitters or lodges, we can afford to
(and frankly it's in our best interest to) be completely objective
and unbiased in regard to helping you select the best trip possible
based on your skill level, schedule, preference and budget.
When
was the last time you heard of a shop, outfitter or lodge telling
a potential customer that "This really isn't the best time
of year for you to come out here, you probably should consider going
elsewhere"? Well, with Kennebec River outdoor travel services,
this is exactly what you will hear (we want your return business!)
For
example, many famous western rivers do not fish well in the late
summer while others are arguably at their peak. For example, in
mid to late August while the Big Hole suffers from low water, the
Firehole suffers from warm water and the Henry's Fork requires a
PHD in Entomology to catch a decent fish, the South Fork and Snake
are in their prime!
Conversely,
in early to mid June while the South Fork and Snake are overflowing
their banks and the fish are tucked in so well that they can't be
reached with conventional tackle (dynamite?), the Salmon Flies are
"on" at the Henry's Fork, the Mother's Day Caddis hatch
is winding down on the Big Hole and the mayflies are red hot on
the Firehole!
Additionally, if Hopper fishing is what you're looking for, we probably
wont send you to the San Juan or Lee's Ferry! Same goes for skill
level, as a beginner, the Spring Creeks in Paradise Valley are probably
not a great idea! Also, if you are looking for a place to go with
a non-fishing spouse, Fort Smith (the Bighorn) is probably not your
best option!
Lastly,
we will assist you with your travel arrangements, tell you (or sell
you!) what you will need to bring (try driving a Chernobyl Ant into
a stiff wind on the South Fork with a 3-weight, it just plain doesn't
work!), and provide you with technical instruction (casting, technique,
etc.) necessary to ensure that you fully enjoy your "dream"
trip!
In
closing, we encourage you to let us at Kennebec River Outfitters
work with you to understand your skill, schedule, preferences and
budget, and we in turn will work diligently to ensure that you end
up in the "right place" at the "right time"
instead of the "right place" at the "wrong time",
or worse, the "wrong place" at the "right time"
for you lovebirds!
