Notes:
Due
to the materials (i.e., Polyethylene) and construction (i.e., Roto-Molding) used
in the Old Town Discovery Series, an exposed internal "Keel Brace" (a
length of pipe running in a "Gutter" like depression up the middle/bottom
of the hull) is required to strengthen the hull and prevent (but not eliminate)
warping. This feature can cause fly lines, rods, terminal tackle, etc., to get
wedged between the support and hull resulting in annoying inconveniences or worse,
damage to expensive fishing gear. The
"Triple Keel" construction used in many of the Scott canoes creates
an extremely rigid hull (helps when under power by eliminating hull flex) while
providing for much straighter tracking and outstanding stability.
